Windows Phone 7 Ported to HTC HD2

By | March 29th, 2010

HTC HD2 was the most anticipated Windows Mobile device but according to Microsoft it won’t get Windows Phone 7 update. Tom Codon from HTCPedia forums didn’t like that, and has posted screenshots and videos of HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 successfully. Features like Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi are working on the ported OS but overall performance shows some lag but that ain’t an issue. A Beta release will be out soon solving most of the problems.

This has reversed the Steve Ballmer claim that WP7 devices will be called Windows Phone 7 Series and the OS update will not the available to the previous phones. Porting WP7 on HD2 has proven that the hardware of the phone is capable of running WP7.

Many early adopters of the new htc hd2 will be happy to finally see a working port of windows 7. Here’s hoping the htc desire can run W7.

Would be great for hacker’s to actually port WP7 into technology from a different realm. We see Apple on non-apple hardware, and we see Windows on Apple hardware… Would be great to see WP7 on an iPhone!
