Symbian goes Open Source

Finally symbian has decided to go open source. As of today, the code is open and developers can join and make it better. The Symbian.org says that the future of mobile is now OPEN! So is our code. The complete symbian platform including all the source files is available for download from their website.

You can actually download the latest OS version that is Symbian^3 which is destined to ship with upcoming Nokia cell phones this year. Symbian foundation claims to ship 100 million Symbian devices in year 2010 adding to the previous 330 million count, going open source will help increase the sales and further improve the OS.
