iAds by Apple will start appearing on all iOS4 devices from July 1, 2010. Hence iAds appearing on your device will not solely based on the content you are surfing, but also on your personal interests, likes and dislikes.

However you can easily opt out from this feature just by visiting oo.apple.com. Note that by doing so you cannot reduce the frequency of Ads that appear on your device per day. You can only stop Apple judging your personal interests, ads will still be relevant but not that much as with relevancy feature turned on.

A few things Apple want you to know:

  • You may still see the same number of ads as before, but they may be less relevant because they will not be based on your interests.
  • You may still see ads related to the content in an application or based on other non-personal information.
  • If you use more than one Apple mobile device running iOS 4, you will have to opt out from each device individually.
  • Opting out applies only to Apple advertising services and does not affect interest-based advertising from other advertising networks.

If you have multiple iOS4 devices, you need to opt out on each device.
