How to Download iOS 4 for iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch
By Usman Aziz | June 24th, 2010Apple has released the much awaited iPhone 4 along with iOS 4 (formerly iPhone OS 4) that is supported on iPhone 3GS, 3G as well as on 2nd and 3rd generation iPod Touch. Here is a guide to update your device to the latest firmware.

The updating process is fairly easy. As the new version is available free of cost, you can simple connect your device to your computer while running iTunes and select ‘Download and Install’.

Is there any link for IPOD 3GS download ? And also pls mention if my IPOD 3GS 8 GB can be upgraded at all as Apple mentioned only 3GS 16 & 32 GB versions in their website as gadgets that can be upgraded. Thanks – Sub

There is no device as 'iPod 3GS'. The latest iPod is 3rd Generation or 3G.

Yes, I have the Ipod touch 3G 8 GB bought during last christmas.. Now can it be upgraded ? thats where I am facing problem.. thanks

Thanks for your answer… But my question was if my version of Ipod touch 3G (8 GB) can be upgraded to OS 4 ? According to Apple, 2 versions of Ipod touch can be upgraded 1> iPod touch 2nd generation (late 2008)
and 2> iPod touch 3rd generation 32GB and 64GB (late 2009). They did not mention anything about 8 GB version. Mine is late 2009 version but 8 GB. I am asking this question because for the past 3 days I am unable to upgrade it. It is getting stuck at the backup section for ever… But without upgrading it works fine. Memory is not the issue Subhro, if your iPod is MC model, u are out of luck!

It can be upgraded but you wont be able to jailbreak it if its a MC model iPad.

i am having problems getting the ipsw file from zip folder.. how do i extract the ipsw file coc itunes cant find my ipsw file. please help.. thanks
