The online merchant, Amazon plans to roll out touch screen mobile device this summer. The Amazon Blaze features a solar panel on the back which isn’t something really unique given that such technology is available on cell phones in Japan, but it may bring this futuristic feature to the masses.
What makes this device unique is its 4.3 inch Mirasol display which apparently is very energy efficient. It is also rumored that this device will have an NFC chip, which means you can pay via your phone, this technology is already being used successfully in Japan and even RIM is working on incorporating NFC payment systems.
It will run the new and exclusive Blaze UI on a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM. It boasts dual cameras, a 5 Megapixel rear and a humble 1.3 Megapixel camera on the front. At only 9.25mm thick it’s a really sleek device and weighs about 120 grams and will feature either Bluetooth 2.1 or 3.
There is no word on pricing just yet, but stay tuned for more updated when this device gets announced this month. The Amazon Blaze will be coming to AT&T and Verizon in August.
